Members of Parliament have been called upon to use the opportunities available to them as law-makers act in ways that will give hope their people. They can do this through the exercise of their oversight responsibilities, which include calling members of the Executive arm of government to order whenever corruption is believed to be perpetrated by government officials. MPs also have the prerogative to pass strong anti-corruption laws and to establish such other Parliamentary Committees of Enquiry as may be necessary to investigate allegations of corruption in government. The General Elections in Tanzania on 31st October 2010 ushered in new members of parliament (MPs) who were sworn in, in November 2010. Since then, new APNAC-TZ Executive Members were also elected. As part of its revitalization process, the APNAC Secretariat conducted a 2-day Orientation workshop (a kind of retreat to brainstorm) for the newly elected Executive members of APNAC-Tanzania in Dar es Salaam, from 5th to 6th May, 2011.
