
The Republic of The Gambia is a country in Western Africa. It is the smallest country on the African continental mainland and is bordered to the north, east, and south by Senegal , and the Atlantic Ocean in the west. The River Gambia flows through the center of the country and empties into the Atlantic Ocean . It has a tropical hot climate with a rainy season (June to November); cooler, dry season (November to May). The country covers a total of 11,300 square kilometers.
Gambia is country with ample arable land which have facilited her to engage in agricultural husbandry.The river Gambia acts as a major source of fish used for both domestic consumption and for the export market.

GOVERNMENT
The Gambia has a presidential system of government with the president serving as both the Chief of state and head of government . The current President is Yahya A. J. J. Jammeh , president since October 1996. In the preceding two years, the president was the Chairman of a military junta that took power in 1994. The Vice President since March 1997 is Isatou Njie Saidy.

President is elected by popular vote for a five-year term. The last elections were held in October 2006 when Yahya A. J. J. Jamneh was re-elected president with 67.3% of the vote against 26.6% poled by Ousainou Darboe.Next polls set for 2011.
PARLIAMENT
The Gambia has a single chamber parliament with Unicameral 53 seats. Of these 48 MPs are elected by popular vote while 5 are appointed by the president. Parliament serves for a five-year term.
The Gambia has 5 major political parties. The ruling party is the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC). Opposition parties are:
