September 4- 8, 2006

A regional training workshop for West African Chapters was held in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The workshop aimed at strengthening the managment, oversight and monitoring skills of parliamentarians in western Africa as well as seeking to consolidate the APNAC network in the region.
APNAC participated the Second Africa Asia Policy Dialogue conference which offered parliamentarians from the two regions the opportunity to share some of their experiences through presentations from policy makers, parliamentarians and academics; panel discussions as well as case studies from both Africa and Asia. Throughout the dialogue the three issues of corruption; poverty and economic growth were discussed, with very useful lessons emerging as case studies.

September 19-23, 2006

APNAC partnered with GOPAC and the Parliament of Tanzania to host the 2nd GOPAC Global Conference in Arusha, Tanzania.Conference aimed at creating patnerships in the fight aganist graft and new strategies to handle graft and money laundering.

November 15-18, 2006

 

The 12 th International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) took place in Guatemala City and Antigua from 15 to 18 November 2006.

Theme: Towards a Fairer World: Why is Corruption Still Blocking the Way?

The IACC will provided an excellent context for a rigorous examination of this question. A key output of the plenaries led to the identification of solutions to overcome the major stumbling blocks impeding a major impact in the fight against corruption, by focusing on effective implementation and advocacy strategies

 

December 9, 2006

United Nations Anti-Corruption Day

On this day T.I National Chapters across all continents recognized the achievements made to date in the fight against corruption as well as the challenges that remain. A priority for all National Chapters is encouraging their governments to ratify the Convention through open letters and public demonstration

December 13, 2006

Parliamentarians were invited to attend the Parliamentary Side Meeting that will took place on December 13th in conjunction with the 1st Conference of States Parties   for the UN Convention against Corruption. GOPAC and its Arab Regional Chapter (ARPAC) will be hosted this seminal event in conjunction with the UNODC.  Both events took place at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center, Dead Sea–Jordan.
